‘Hope for The Best’ a guide to navigating life-changing diagnosis
A new book by CHEPA member Hsien Seow, the Canada Research Chair in Palliative Care and Health System Innovation, and palliative care physician Samantha Winemaker— both McMaster faculty members — draws on their decades spent researching and caring for thousands of seriously ill patients to reveal the seven keys for a better illness experience.
The book, entitled Hope for the Best, Plan for the Rest: 7 Keys for Navigating a Life-Changing Diagnosis, includes real-life stories, tips, and exercises to improve the illness journey right from diagnosis. The book is available now in paperback, e-book and audiobook formats. For more information or to order, click HERE.
Their work is also part of a new campaign by Health Canada to expand palliative care education. The campaign highlights three questions patients can ask providers at their next visit to get the information they need to understand their illness. Click here for more information.
Seow and Winemaker are also the co-hosts of the award-winning podcast Waiting Room Revolution, which is entering its seventh season. The podcast, for people facing a life-changing medical diagnosis, is rated in the top 1.5% of podcasts globally.
