Costa, Vanstone awarded CIHR grants
Andrew Costa and Meredith Vanstone are each Co-Principal Investigators on separate Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Spring Project Grants.
Costa is a Co-Pi on “Understanding and improving the use of acute care hospitals for older adults in retirement homes,” which will study why residents in retirement homes end up in hospitals more frequently than those living in long-term care homes.
Vanstone is Co-Pi with Lawrence Grierson on “Optimizing indirect patient care activities to Improve access to Family Medicine.” Their research seeks to develop a better understanding of the nature of Indirect Patient Care Activities (IPCA) by family doctors (such as reviewing investigations, writing in the patients’ charts, and refilling prescriptions) and the clinical decisions these tasks provoke in the context of increasing access to family medicine via optimization of the existing health workforce.
