Laura Anderson, Associate Professor with McMaster's Department of Health Research, Methods, Evidence & Impact (HEI), will discuss her research into the impact of COVID-19- related lifestyle changes on weight gain and obesity.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused unprecedented changes in the activities of daily life for children and adults. Public health prevention strategies that were implemented to control the spread of COVID-19, including lockdowns and physical distancing, have impacted physical activity, nutrition risk, stress, and health care access.
In this seminar, Anderson will discuss the impact of the pandemic on obesity and weight gain in children and adults. She will present the results of a systematic review and meta-analysis on the indirect impact of the pandemic on obesity, and describe the study proposal for a prospective cohort study using data from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging.
This seminar will be held virtually. For a link to join, please email ramsay@mcmaster.ca.
